About Nary

What happens when people
feel truly heard.

A qualified, experienced, and genuinely warm counsellor, with a background rooted in caring for people long before any formal training began.

Hi, I’m Nyarai.

  • “I became a counsellor because I’ve seen, first-hand, what happens when people feel truly heard. I want to offer that to you.“

    Nary
    Counsellor, Bournemouth, BH11

15 years of healthcare before a single counselling session.

For over 15 years, I worked in healthcare, caring for people day in and day out. What I noticed, again and again, was that the moments that made the real difference weren’t the clinical ones; they were the quiet conversations, the moments someone felt safe enough to open up.

Those moments stayed with me, and they’re the reason I trained as a counsellor.

The why

Those moments stayed with me, and they’re the reason I trained as a counsellor. I saw the positive impact that simply being heard had on people, and I wanted to offer that more intentionally and professionally.

“I’m not here to tell you what to feel or what to do. I’m here to give you a space where you can finally hear yourself.”

I’m also bilingual — I offer sessions in both English and Shona. Language matters deeply when you’re talking about difficult things, and you’re welcome to use whichever feels most natural, or move between the two freely.

My Approach

Person-centred means exactly what it says.

You’re at the centre, not a diagnosis, not a treatment plan, not someone else’s idea of what you need.

Write To Me
  • You lead. I follow.

There’s no fixed agenda in our sessions. You bring what feels important. We go at your pace. I listen fully, reflect back honestly, and hold space for the parts of yourself you’re still finding words for.

  • Non-judgemental and empathetic

Person-centred counselling is built on the belief that people have an innate capacity to grow and change — when given the right environment. My job is to create that environment.

  • Practical and empowering

Counselling isn’t just about talking; it’s about gaining clarity, making decisions, and finding ways forward that are genuinely yours. Many clients describe feeling empowered in ways they didn’t expect.

  • What this approach is not

Person-centred counselling doesn’t include diagnoses, structured exercises, or treatment plans. If you’re looking for a more structured approach, I’m happy to discuss what might suit you best.

Qualified, registered and fully insured.

Everything is above board, so you can come to sessions with complete peace of mind.

You’re working with someone fully qualified

My Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling means I’ve met the professional standard required to practise in the UK. You’re not a practice run.

You’re protected by a professional framework

As a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), I follow a strict ethical code. If something ever doesn’t feel right, there’s a formal body you can go to.

You and your family are safe

I’m DBS checked and Police Vetted, which means I’m approved to work with both adults and young people. Whether you’re coming yourself or bringing a young person, that’s already been taken care of.

Insured

I hold full professional liability insurance. It’s there so you never have to worry about what happens if something unexpected arises.

Your information stays private

I’m registered with the ICO and handle all personal data in line with UK GDPR. What you share with me, in sessions or in enquiries is always confidential**

Bilingual

Sessions are available in English and Shona. If English isn’t where you process your deepest thoughts, you don’t have to force it

The only exception is if there is an immediate risk to life, in which case I have a professional duty to act. I’ll always explain this fully before we begin, so there are no surprises.
